Who is Alex Humen?
Alex was born in Ukraine, in a town called Zinkiv. He first started sports at the age of 5, playing soccer. Starting at the age of 9, Alex built his wrestling background and became an active wrestling competitor for over 10 years. After a few years, he started training MMA as well. A training partner with a jiu jitsu background inspired him to try jiu jitsu once he moved to the USA. Throughout years of experience as a jiu jitsu practitioner and instructor, he is now a head coach and gym owner of Brabo Academy.
What can I learn from Alex?
Out of the many specialties Alex has, his chokes and other submissions that revolve around chokes are some of his most effective. If you go on his Instagram, you will quickly notice that even a lot of his students win their matches with a variety of chokeholds. So what's the secret to their success? You've probably experienced the frustration of your opponents capitalizing on chokes that you spent a lot of time and effort trying to set up. In no-gi, the reduction of friction makes achieving chokes even more difficult, and you can start to feel like chokeholds just aren't ever going to be a good submission option for you. To help any jiu jitsu practitioner with similar concerns, Alex brought his broad knowledge to JJX with his course, “Game of Chokes.” His scientific approach will take you through various no-gi chokes from common positions and situations.
