Introducing one of the fastest rising stars, Ffion Davies
Ffion was born on January 18, 1995, in Wales. With a solid athletic background as a rugby player and professional judo competitor (junior division), Ffion started training in MMA and discovered jiu jitsu in 2013. Even as a color belt, Ffion managed to win countless victories in IBJJF European Open, World Championship, and World No Gi Championship. After receiving her well-deserved Black belt on November 27, 2018, from coach Darragh O’Conaill, Ffion didn’t stop but started competing more frequently. And she challenged herself and ended up winning world-class tournaments such as the IBJJF World No Gi Championship (2018,2021), IBJJF World Championship (2022), and ultimately ADCC (2022). Not only did Ffion fiercely dominate numerous tournaments in Gi with her broad judo knowledge, but her well-balanced and aggressive No Gi game also shined throughout the IBJJF No Gi World and ADCC matches. In an attempt to share her secrets about her mighty No Gi game, Ffion brought her latest course “No-Gi Passing and Pins” to JJX.
How comfortable are you passing No Gi guard?
As much as the No Gi jiu jitsu is expanding drastically, there have been more and more creativity being added to the No Gi guard system. And this can cause some of the students to get frustrated. I’m sure you have been there, where you think you are just about to pass your training partner’s guard, and they always seem to take advantage of the slipperiness and put you back into their guard. And the lack of pants grip and lapel control, passing almost becomes impossible, and next thing you know, you get swept or submitted in nasty leg locks. Obtaining a proper control mechanism is the MUST when it comes to No gi jiu jitsu. And Ffion is an exceptional instructor, well known for her ability to convey detail.
Especially lots of No gi athletes are notorious for their seated guard, which can increase the significant amount of danger by leglocks and many more submissions. By adding this course to your collection, you will learn how to deal with the seated guard and knee cutting through several variations of seated guards. The chapter not only contains how to set up the perfect knee cut pass, but it also goes over how to defend the Deep half guard position with hip line control and follow up with submissions such as kimura, triangle, back take, and so many more.
The course “No-gi Passing and Pins” also includes a step-by-step breakdown on how to pass from headquarters, how to be in dominant control with multiple sequences involving smash pass, floating pass, long step passing, and also how to beat knee shield and underhook game in half guard as well, as knee shield and underhooks can quickly bring tons of advantages to your opponents.
With Ffion’s judo knowledge, you will also be able to implement her strength to your standing game. Including Uchi Mata, Single leg defense, and kimura trap details, followed by how to completely dismantle your opponent’s framing in side control and mount to get to dominant submissions ultimately.
Explore all the sequences to start winning like Ffion! The detailed instructional by Ffion will let you understand the mechanics behind the sequence and after drilling the sequences yourself, you will surprise yourself by implementing unstoppable passing and pins.
